Granite is selected slab by slab. Colour, movement, mineral detail, and surface variation are part of the material, so selection comes before templating, layout, and fabrication.
Pearl coordinates the project from measurement through installation. The final layout accounts for the cabinet run, island, sink, cooktop, seams, edges, backsplash details, and access to the room.
We position the cut around the stone you choose, then plan edges, openings, and seams for the confirmed room.

From measurement to installation
Granite is cut from one specific slab, so selection comes first and the template is taken from the finished cabinets. The sequence for a Barrie or Simcoe County project runs as follows.

No two granite slabs match, so the stone is chosen before anything is templated. See samples by appointment at the Concord showroom, or view whole slabs at the supplier, in person or on its website, so the colour, movement, and mineral detail of the exact slab are known. Other natural stones can be ordered on request.
In-home measurement and digital template
A technician comes to the house by appointment and combines laser templating with physical measurement in one visit. The cabinets must be installed, and the sink and cooktop must be on site so their openings are placed exactly. The technician advises on overhangs and custom sizing and takes reference photographs. An existing countertop can stay in place for measuring if it is clear; new cabinets without a countertop are measured the same way.
Fabrication around the stone
The layout is set on the template so the cut follows the movement of the slab. Edges, openings, and seams are planned before cutting. An eased edge is standard and any profile is available; an ogee costs more. Slabs typically run around 10 by 5 feet, so a longer run, an oversized piece, or a sharp inside corner that would be a weak point is given a planned seam.
Installation
Pearl's own crew installs. A kitchen takes three to five hours on the day and a vanity one to two. An undermount sink is glued in as part of the installation. The counter can be used about five hours after installation once the adhesive has set, and the plumber can connect the sink after 24 hours.
What the quote covers
Each item is a separate line on the quote, so you can see what is included before you commit.
- Sink
- Pearl can supply the sink, or install one you provide. Any type of sink is fine. A customer-supplied sink must be on site on the measuring date.
- Cutouts and holes
- Sink, cooktop, faucet, soap dispenser, and other openings are all cut to the template.
- Backsplash
- Stone backsplash only, in the same material: a 4-inch upstand or full height, on request.
- Removal of the old countertop
- Quoted as a separate line item, not included by default.
- Plumbing
- Disconnecting and reconnecting plumbing is the customer's plumber's work, scheduled after the 24-hour cure.
- Edge profile
- Eased edge as standard. Any other profile on request; an ogee is priced higher.
Living with granite
Granite is quarried stone, so every slab differs in colour, movement, and mineral detail, and the slab you approve is the slab that is cut. The granite Pearl installs arrives pre-sealed, and resealing once a year is recommended. Otherwise it is a low-maintenance surface.
Pearl fabricates granite in 2 cm, 3 cm, and 4 cm thicknesses with a polished, honed, or leathered finish. Polished is the classic reflective surface; honed is matte and softens the pattern; leathered keeps a light texture that hides fingerprints and water marks. Other natural stones from the collection can be ordered on request.

- Seven to ten business days from the measurement visit to the installed granite countertop.
- How is the quote calculated?
- Per square foot by material tier, plus edges, cutouts, removal, and sinks as separate lines. There is no minimum charge. A 50 percent deposit is required.
- Is there a travel fee for Barrie?
- Travel is assessed case by case; ask when you request the quote. Pearl works in Barrie and Simcoe County every week.
- How quickly will I hear back?
- Within one business day of a quote request or call.
- Does granite need sealing?
- The granite Pearl installs arrives pre-sealed. Resealing once a year is recommended.
- Is there a warranty?
- Pearl provides a one-year warranty on its countertop installations.
